BENGALURU: A massive crane collapsed during Metro construction work in Agara around 3.45 am on Wednesday. Luckily, no one was injured in the incident.
The crane, working on the blue line Metro project connecting Outer Ring Road, fell while lifting a steel girder. Deputy Chief Engineer of BMRCL, Sadashiva, stated that a technical issue led to the accident. The crane, capable of lifting 500 tons, was lifting a 100-ton steel girder when one of its four jacks (stands) got cut, causing it to topple. One part of the crane was stuck under the weight.
Two cranes were used to lift the fallen crane. Exclusive CCTV footage shows the crane flipping over on to the road around 3.20 am. Luckily, there was no traffic at that time as some vehicles had just moved ahead. Workers could be seen running away when the crane collapsed
