BENGALURU: A fraudster allegedly cheated at least 10 job aspirants of Rs 10 lakh each by promising them jobs at the Karnataka Milk Federation (KMF). He showed them an advertisement issued by KMF for several posts and promised unsuspecting people the jobs in exchange for money.
The conman, N Krishnan, who introduced himself as a senior officer at KMF, showed fake ID card to gain the trust of the complainants. He also sent emails and OTPs in the name of KMF to make it seem legitimate.
The complainants, who were desperate for government jobs, were convinced by Krishnan’s words and borrowed money from friends to hand it over to him. However, when they asked about their job status, Krishnan kept asking for more money, saying that senior officers were demanding Rs 15 lakh more.
When one of the complainants tried to contact him, Krishnan switched off his phone and went into hiding. A case has been registered against Krishnan and his associate Nagaraj at the Malleswaram police station.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Nemagouda said the accused have allegedly cheated several people, collecting lakhs of rupees in the name of KMF jobs. “Further investigation will reveal if government officials were involved in the job scam”, he said.
