BALLARI: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials on Wednesday raided the residence of Vishwanath, an aide of former minister B Nagendra, in connection with the multi-crore Valmiki Corporation scam.
A team of three CBI officers conducted the raid. Vishwanath was not present at home, so his brother Mahesh and wife were taken to Brucepet police station for questioning. The CBI is investigating Vishwanath’s role in the scam.
In a related development, CBI officials also raided Nagendra’s home and questioned his cook, Maruthi, at Gandhi Nagar police station. Maruthi was brought from Ballari’s Maruthi Nagar for questioning. The questioning is likely to continue on Thursday too.
