BENGALURU: The Opposition BJP in the state is gearing up for a two-pronged strategy against the state government over the demolition of illegal houses at Fakir Colony and Wasim Layout near Kogilu in Yelahanka.
The party will demand rehabilitation of affected local families and is also considering legal action against the government over allotment of houses to illegal Bangladeshi immigrants.

The BJP alleges the government is illegally allocating homes to non-residents of the state and Bangladesh infiltrators under the Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme. The party plans to file Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the High Court challenging the government’s decision.
The state BJP core committee will meet on January 5 to decide on the protest plan, which includes statewide protests and a legal battle.
The BJP has also formed a fact-finding committee to investigate the demolition of over 200 houses in Fakir Colony and Wasim Badawani near Kogilu Layout. State president Vijayendra has formed a seven-member committee and instructed them to submit a report within a week.
