KARWAR: The body of an unidentified woman was found near Tagore beach in Karwar, close to where the Karavali Utsav is conducted. The woman’s body was found near the amusement park between the old fish market and the municipal park.
The woman, believed to be from another state, hasn’t been identified. Police suspect she may have been raped and murdered as her legs were found tied and there were other signs of restraint and violence. The body has been sent for post-mortem at KRIMS Hospital. A case has been registered at Karwar city police station.
In another incident, a 22-year-old youth died after he fell while climbing a chikoo (sapota) tree at Guttibailu village in Haliyal taluk. The deceased was identified as Ishaq Ayub. A case has been registered at the Haliyal police station.
