BENGALURU: The CID officers have been searching for BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraju, who is an accused (A5) in the history-sheeter Biklu Shiva murder case, for the past three days. Separate teams have been sent to Maharashtra, Goa and Pune.

The MLA, who attended the Belagavi session, has gone to an unknown location. Despite intense search efforts, no information is available about him and hence police are planning to issue a lookout notice.

Jagga @ Jagadish, the main accused (A1) in the Biklu Shiva murder case, had also fled to Dubai via Chennai and was later arrested by CID police and sent to Parappana Agrahara Central Jail.

As the MLA is suspected to be in Maharashtra and may attempt to flee abroad via Mumbai, CID officers are planning to issue a lookout notice to prevent him from leaving the country.

Meanwhile, the hearing of Byrati Basavaraju’s anticipatory bail application has been postponed to Tuesday due to the absence of the public prosecutor representing CID. The plea is being heard by the Special Court for Elected Representatives.
