BENGALURU: A law student was arrested by the Basavanagudi police for firing with an air gun at a businessman during practice, leaving the latter injured. The accused, identified as Afzal, has been taken into custody for further questioning. The pellet hit businessman and bar owner Rajgopal.

Around 8.30 pm on December 10, Rajgopal was walking in M N Krishna Rao Park when an air gun was fired at him. During the investigation, police learned that Rajgopal, the owner of Cargill Bar and Narthaki, had no prior threats. This raised questions about why an air gun was used if there was no threat and whether anyone had plotted the attack.
Despite investigating all these dimensions, police traced the bullet fired at a flat, where they found evidence that the shot originated from Afzal’s flat. When questioned, Afzal said he is  pursuing law and was practicing shooting with an air gun at home, and the shot accidentally went out the window.

Rajgopal was meeting friends at the park for a walk when the incident occurred. He suffered injury in the neck and is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital.
