CHAMARAJANAGAR, DAVANAGERE, MADIKERI: At least 10 people, including a girl child, were injured in stray dog attacks in separate incidents in different parts of the state.
Seven pedestrians were injured after they were attacked by a mad dog in Yelandur town near Canara Bank in Yelandur. The injured including Choudamma, Ratnamma, and Lakshmamma, are receiving treatment at Yelandur hospital. Locals are demanding action to control the stray dog menace.
The stray dog menace continues to plague Davangere, with a two-year-old girl being attacked by a pack of dogs in Jammapura village in Davangere taluk. The child, Sahitya, was playing outside her house when the dogs suddenly attacked her, biting her cheek and causing severe injuries.
The child was with her grandmother at the time of the attack. The child’s parents, Shashikumar Naik and Manjula Bai, are daily wage workers and were not at home when the incident occurred. Sahitya is currently undergoing treatment at Davangere District Hospital.
This is not an isolated incident, as a woman named Anita was killed in a dog attack on December 5. The villagers are urging the Jammapura gram panchayat to take immediate action to control the stray dog menace and prevent further attacks.
A man was attacked by stray dogs while going for a morning walk in Uchchangidurga in Harappanahalli taluk of Vijayanagara district. Manjunath (54), a member of the Uchchangidurga gram panchayat, was walking in the morning when he was suddenly attacked by a pack of five stray dogs.
Manjunath, who has high blood sugar, was seriously injured on both hands and is currently undergoing treatment at Chigatgeri District Hospital in Davangere. He has appealed to the authorities to control the stray dog menace, saying the number of dog attacks is increasing in Davangere district.
A former municipal member, M K Dinesh, was attacked by a stray dog in Kariyappa Layout in Kushalanagar. The dog bit him on the hand and stomach, causing injuries. Dinesh is currently undergoing treatment at Sagar Hospital in Kushalanagar.
The stray dog has reportedly attacked several people in the area, and locals are demanding action to control the menace.
