Work on the blue line is expected to be completed by 2027.

BENGALURU: The Namma Metro’s Blue Line project, connecting the city to the Kempegowda International Airport, which is expected to ease traffic towards the airport will take another two years for completion. The project is divided into two phases — Phase 2A and Phase 2B.

Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda inspected the progress of work on Wednesday.

The 58.19-km metro route will have a total of 30 stations, with 13 stations in Phase 2A and 17 stations in Phase 2B. The construction of Phase 2B started in February 2022, and about 70 per cent of the work is already completed. The project is expected to be completed by December 2027.

Once completed, the metro route will connect KR Pura, Nagawara and Silk Board, making it easier for passengers to travel to the airport without traffic congestion.

The project is being undertaken by BMRCL, with support from GBA and the BWSSB, who are working to complete their part of the work quickly by shifting the utilities. The metro route will be a major convenience for passengers, reducing travel time and providing a seamless journey to the airport.
