3-day Datta Jayanti celebrations at Datta Peetha from today

Anusuya Jayanti celebrations were held on Tuesday.

CHIKKAMAGALUR: The Datta Jayanti festival is being celebrated at the Datta Peetha at Baba Budangiri Hills in Chikkamagalur, also known as the Ayodhya of Karnataka, for the past three days and will continue for the next three days. The atmosphere in Chikkamagalur is electric, with devotees flocking to the Datta Peetha to participate in the festivities.

On Tuesday, Anusuya Jayanti was celebrated and thousands of women took part in a Sankirtnana procession in the city. The procession concluded at the Datta Peetha, where the women performed a homa and havan and worshipped Anusuya Devi.

As a precautionary measure, a large number of police personnel have been deployed, and the district has been placed on high alert. The district administration has also banned the sale of liquor for the next two days. Additionally, tourists have been barred from visiting the hill area for the past five days.

The Datta Jayanti festival is also being celebrated at the Inam Dattatreya Bababudan Dargah on Baba Budangiri Hills. The celebrations are expected to continue for the next three days, with devotees from across the region flocking to the Datta Peetha to participate in the festivities.
