Tiger kills pregnant cow, injures another in Virajpet village

MADIKERI: A tiger killed a pregnant cow in Badagabanagala village in Virajpet taluk on Sunday night. The incident has caused concern among villagers, who are living in fear of further tiger attacks.

The cow, belonging to V C Chandra, was grazing near his home when the tiger attacked, killing it and eating its flesh after pulling out the calf from its womb.

Another cow, belonging to Vijay Kumar, was also attacked by the tiger and is in a critical condition. Veterinary officers have been called to treat the injured cow. The post-mortem of the dead cow was conducted by Polibetta veterinary officer Naveen Kumar.

Forest officials, led by Titimati Range Forest Officer Gangadhar, visited the scene and are tracking the tiger’s movement. This is not the first such incident in the area, and villagers are demanding measures to prevent further attacks.
