BENGALURU: The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) plans to extend the time for applying for B‑to‑A khata conversion due to the lukewarm response the scheme has received so far. Applications were allowed to be submitted within 100 days from November 01. Since not many applications have not been filed, the GBA is considering extending the 100‑day deadline and also simplifying the khata conversion process.
Deputy CM DK Shivakumar’s most ambitious scheme, A‑khata conversion, has already been open for applications for a month, but only about 1,500 applications have been filed so far, making it evident that people are showing less interest in the A‑khata conversion.
Within the Greater Bengaluru Authority jurisdiction, there are 7.5 lakh properties with B‑khata which need to be converted to A‑khatas, and a 5 per cent fee over the guidance value must be paid. Due to the public’s indifferent response to the application process, plans are afoot to extend the 100‑day deadline. The extension will be based on the number of applications received.
“The 5 per cent fee on guidance value will not be reduced, but the application process will be simplified. Efforts are being made to simplify the A‑khata conversion application, and awareness campaigns are being planned to inform the public. Once an application is submitted, we will dispose of it promptly and distribute the A‑khatas without delay”, said GBA Chief Commissioner Maheshwara Rao.
