DAVANAGERE: A retired deputy superintendent of police took his own life by shooting himself with a licenced gun at his house at Kudligi in Vijayanagara district early on Saturday.
According to sources close to the family, the deceased Hanumantappa V Turai (70) was struggling with mental health issues. Hanumantappa had retired from service in 2014.
The KJT Nagar police visited the scene and are investigating the incident. The forensic team has examined the premises and the deceased’s body and collected samples.
