KARWAR: At least 22 students fell ill after consuming midday meal at the Model School at Mundgod in Uttara Kannada district on Friday. They were admitted to the district hospital.
Rat droppings were found in the midday meal during checking, and out of roughly 400 students who ate it, 22 suffered symptoms.
As usual, the students had their lunch on Friday afternoon, and during the meal they discovered rat droppings in the food. Those who ate it experienced vomiting and stomach pain, and were immediately taken to the district hospital for treatment.
A team of officials, including PI Ranganath, visited the hospital to assess the situation. Doctors are providing treatment and have said the students will be monitored for a day. The Education Department has also launched an investigation.
