Thieves break through roof, steal 1.5 kg silver from jewellery store in Bidar

BIDAR: Thieves broke into a jewellery store at Naubad in Bidar by gaining entry through the roof and made away with about 1.5 kg of silver ornaments worth Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 10,000 cash in the wee hours on Thursday.

The theft occurred at Ayyappa Swamy Jewellers, and the thieves, who were part of a gang, attempted to break open the gold locker, but failed and escaped with the silver items, abandoning the gold due to the locker’s security.

The thieves took silver articles, but could not break open the locker in which the gold was kept.

The incident was captured on CCTV, showing the thieves entering the shop and making their escape. The New Town police have registered a case and have taken up further investigation. Mahesh Sonar, the owner of the shop, reported the incident, and the police are reviewing the CCTV footage to identify the thieves.
