Sumalatha, family and fans remember ‘Rebel Star’ Ambareesh on 7th death anniversary

BENGALURU: The sevent death anniversary of ‘Rebel Star’ Ambareesh was observed on Monday by family members and fans at the Kanteerava Studios with various events, including a prayer meeting and food distribution being organised.

Former Mandya MP and wife of the late actor-politician, Sumalatha Ambareesh, visited his samadhi (memorial) and offered prayers along with their son Abhishek and other family members. Speaking to the media, Sumalatha said, “Ambareesh is my inspiration, and I’m following his path. His presence is still felt, and I believe he’s with us, watching over us. I’m not actively involved in politics now, but I’ll continue to be with the people. I’m focusing on my grandson’s life and enjoying this phase”.

When asked about her husband’s legacy, Sumalatha said, “Ambareesh was a great man, and I’m proud to be his wife. I’m not looking back; I’m moving forward, and I’ll continue to work for the people”. Regarding her son Abhishek’s acting career, Sumalatha said, “Abhishek is focusing on his career, and he’ll make his choices. I want him to be happy and successful. As for politics, I’ll decide my future plans later. For now, I’m concentrating on my family and social work”.

Sumalatha also wished actor Darshan well for his upcoming film ‘Devil’ and emphasized the importance of leadership in the film industry.

Actor Doddanna, who was also present, shared a heartwarming moment, saying, “Ambareesh’s grandson, is just one year old, and he’s already calling me ‘Doddanna’ (older brother). It’s a sweet feeling, and I know Ambareesh is smiling down on us. It’s seven years since we lost Ambi, but he’s still with us. The good news is that there’s a mini Rebel Star born in the family and he’ll outdo his grandfather”.

He also joked about his leg pain, saying, “I’m feeling the pain in my legs, but I’m managing. Ambareesh is watching over me, and I’m trying to keep his spirit alive.” The event was attended by family members, friends, and fans, who paid their respects to the late actor-politician.
