BENGALURU: Dr Rajkumar Road, a major road in Bengaluru connecting to 23 districts, has been witnessing white‑topping work from three months and yet the construction has still not been completed. There is doubt whether it will be opened to traffic by December as the work is progressing slowly, causing traffic problems.
From Majestic, KSRTC, BMTC, and private buses that go to various districts of the state must travel via Rajkumar Road as it connects to Tumkur Road. But traffic on Rajkumar Road has been blocked because white‑topping work is under way.
White‑topping work has started from Navrang signal up to Orion Mall, and the road has been barricaded and closed. Although the work started three months ago, it has not been finished yet. This is causing problems for the public, and the slow progress of the construction is still hampering people’s movement.
Around Navrang and Rajkumar Road, traffic problems moving around has become difficult. Officials say that they will start laying white‑topping this week, but if they begin now, it will still take another month to finish. Locas are complaining about the inconvenience.
Manu, a localite, claims that the white-topping work on Rajkumar Road is creating new problems every day and common people are suffering. “We do not know with whom to complain. Politicians visit door-to-door to ask for votes and support during elections. We have been suffering for six months. None of the officials are visiting here. A politician must be a good leader first. There are lots of potholes, but the GBA officials have turned a blind eye”, he said.
