BENGALURU: The menace of stray dogs has increased at Kempegowda Nagar in Kodigehalli and people are afraid to walk on the streets .
Veeresh (33) was attacked by a pack of about 20 stray dogs two weeks ago. They brutally attacked him on his hands, legs, head, neck, and other parts. After that, Veeresh was taken to Victoria Hospital for treatment. He is now recovering at home, but so far he has received no compensation.
However, the stray dog nuisance continues unabated in the locality. Due of the attack, Veeresh has not been able to go to work, leaving him without income and making life difficult. Even after a month, officials from the GBA have not extended any financial assistance. Hospital bills and the cost of medicines are becoming a burden, so he is pleading for compensation.
Veeresh was heading toward the Dodda Bommasandra lake in Ganesh Nagar near Kodigehalli when several stray dogs suddenly attacked him.
Earlier, an aged man, Seethappa, had died in the adjacent Telecom Layout. After the two incidents, GBA authorities caught the dogs and relocated them, but a week later, the dogs reappeared.
The locals are worried about the stray dogs’ menace. In addition, people are reluctant to go outside for walks in the park. People have complained that they are having trouble sleeping at night due to the barking of stray dogs.
