Seven arrested so far in connection with cash van heist case

BENGALURU: The city police have arrested another suspect in the case where a cash van belonging to CMS Ltd, that was heading out to fill ATMs, was intercepted and Rs 7.11 crore was robbed. The arrested was identified as Rakesh. The police have recovered Rs 5.76 crore of the total amount and sSo far, seven people have been arrested in the robbery case.

The arrested Rakesh is the brother of another accused Ravi. On Saturday night, he came to Siddapura police station and surrendered himself. After the robbery, they had kept crores of rupees near Hoskote, and the accused had hidden the money in different places.

During the investigation, several interesting facts have come to light. The gang had been planning for three months and carried out the robbery on a Wednesday. Every Wednesday, a large amount of money is taken to the ATMs. Therefore, they planned to rob on Wednesday to get a big sum.

This information was passed to the robbers by Gopi, an employee of CMS Ltd. He gave information about the vehicle that left on Wednesday with a large amount. Acting on Gopi’s tip, a former CMS employee, Xavier, followed the vehicle as instructed and carried out the robbery.
