BENGALURU: Many private agencies that recruit staff, including security guards, in various corporate offices and industries in Karnataka, including hotels, have been accused of committed irregularities.

The president of the five-star hotel employees’ association, Subhash Chandra, has complained to the Governor that there is an irregularity of Rs 500-1000 crore annually. Private agencies are cheating on gratuity and salary payments, and every three to four months, they collect about Rs 4,000 to Rs 5,000 as a ‘uniform deposit’, he pointed out.

“If workers question this, the agencies blacklist them, deny leave and create problems in getting PF/ESI benefits. Therefore, we have requested the governor to intervene and resolve the issue”, he said.

Subhash Chandra said that no one is willing to take responsibility to uncover the fraud. “There are over 60,000 people working for security agencies; the agencies supplies over 1.5 lakh manpower to different fields. This is the biggest daylight robbery, and labourers are suffering. The hiring agencies are harassing security guards and enjoying commission. The government and Labour department should wake up and take necessary actions”, he pointed out.
