BENGALURU: Actor Darshan, who is in jail in the Renukaswamy murder case, has filed a petition in court for a bedsheet. He says he cannot sleep because of the cold. He requested the judge to provide a bedsheet, and the judge ordered the jailer to give him one, noting that it is allowed under the law and that it is very cold outside.

During the proceedings, accused Nagaraj also submitted a request for a bedsheet, pleading, “Sir, give us a bedsheet; they are not giving it. Even if we bring that from home, they won’t allow it”.
Darshan then took the microphone and said, “Sir, this is not just my problem; it is everyone’s problem. It is very cold, sir. Because of the cold, we cannot sleep at night. We stay awake all night, sitting in a corner, passing time. It is a problem for everyone, sir. It is extremely cold, please give us a bedsheet”, he requested.
When the accused Nagaraj mentioned the matter, the judge got angry. He said to the jailer Shankar, “The winter is severe; what is the problem with providing a bedsheet? How should they manage?”
The judge expressed his irritation, saying, “Do we have to tell you everything?” After Darshan’s request, the judge ordered the jailer to provide a bedsheet, noting that the law allows it and that it is cold outside.
In the Renukaswamy murder case, Darshan, Pavithra Gowda and six other accused persons appeared via video conference from jail, while the remaining accused were present in person. During the hearing under CrPC Section 292, the prosecution filed an application, to which Pavithra Gowda’s lawyer raised an objection, arguing that the application should not be allowed.
