BENGALURU: An accused in a kidnapping and murder case was shot in the leg near the Bommasandra crematorium in the Anekal taluk on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Saturday night.
Hebbagodi Inspector Somasekhar shot at the accused, Ravi Prasad Reddy, in the leg and took him into custody on Monday night.
It is alleged that Ravi had kidnapped a person named Balappa Reddy on Jigani Ring Road and demanded money. When the money was not paid, he allegedly slit Reddy’s throat in Shanmavu forest in Tamil Nadu, left the body there, and fled.
Earlier, Ravi had allegedly murdered an individual identified as Madesh. He was arrested based on technical evidence. During the on‑site investigation, the accused allegedly attacked a constable. When he did not heed to warnings, Inspector Somasekhar shot Madesh in both legs and arrested him.
