BENGALURU: The city traffic police had identified over 20,000 potholes across the city that have been causing traffic congestion. The police had submitted a list of these potholes to the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), prioritising areas with the most potholes in the eastern division.

According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Karthik Reddy, about 80 per cent of the potholes pointed out by the traffic police have been repaired by the GBA. This has led to a noticeable improvement in traffic congestion.

Meanwhile, a video of motorcyclists riding through pothole and a muddy track beside a road in Mahadevapura has gone viral on social media, sparking widespread outrage.

The pothole, which was dug for a sewer line, has become a major inconvenience for commuters, with many having to navigate through it to reach their offices. The road, which connects the service road to the main road, is in a deplorable condition, with no signs of repair work.

Locals have expressed their frustration, stating that the area has been neglected despite being home to many IT professionals. They have threatened to stop paying taxes if the road is not repaired. The road is part of the Panathur stretch, where white-topping work is under way, causing traffic congestion and forcing vehicles to use alternative routes.

The viral video has attracted attention, with many calling for immediate action to repair the road and improve traffic conditions.
