BENGALURU: Four people have been arrested in connection with the shooting at Kanegowdanahalli gram panchayat member Saleem in Islamapur. The accused, who have been identified as Mubarak, Shadikh, Asif and Narasimha, were apprehended by the Nelamangala Rural police. Two police officers are also being questioned.

According to the police, the murder was orchestrated by Mubarak, who had a grudge against the victim Salim. Salim had won a case against Mubarak’s sister Nageena and had also accused Mubarak’s sister of having an illicit relationship with someone. Mubarak had allegedly given contract to kill Salim.

The police investigation revealed that the suspects had planned the murder for several months and had escaped to another state after committing the crime. The Nelamangala Rural police, led by ASP Venkatesh Prasanna, Deputy SP Jagadish and Inspector Narendra Babu, formed three teams and tracked down the suspects, arresting them in a dramatic operation.

The police are currently interrogating the suspects and are investigating the case from two angles — one being the political motive and the other being the personal vendetta.
