Public TV’s Dr Sharanu Hullur honoured with State Film Award

MYSURU: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Monday presented the State Film Award to Dr Sharanu Hullur, head of the Film Division of Public TV.  The ceremony was held at the KSOU Convocation Hall on Hunsur Road in Mysuru where the State Government announced the annual film awards for 2018 and 2019.

On this occasion, CM Siddaramaiah honoured Dr Sharanu Hullur with a medal and citation for his book ‘Ambareesh’, which explores the life and personality of the late actor ‘Rebel Star’ Ambareesh. The book was published by Sawanna Publications, and its owner, Jameel Sawanna, was also felicitated during the event.

In his book ‘Ambareesh’, Dr Sharanu Hullur vividly portrays the colourful journey and personality of Ambareesh, from his birth to his untimely demise. The book discusses various aspects of Ambareesh’s life, such as wanting to open a liquor shop, entering the world of celluloid, being a favorite character, ‘Jaleel’, in the movie ‘Nagarahavu’, being a bridge between Dr Rajkumar and Dr Vishnuvardhan, and his passion for racing.

The book also reminds how the  troubleshooter of the film industry developed a craze for racing. CM Siddaramaiah praised Dr Sharanu Hullur for his work and honoured him with the award, acknowledging his contribution to Kannada literature and cinema.
