BENGALURU: A dramatic scene unfolded during Deputy CM D K Shivakumar’s ‘Walk For Bengaluru’ campaign at JP Park in Mathikere on Sunday. Rajarajeshwari Nagar BJP MLA Muniratna Naidu openly expressed his anger against the Deputy CM and the government during the event.
Despite not being invited, Muniratna came to JP Park after the RSS programme and sat among the crowd in RSS uniform. Seeing him at the event, the Deputy CM invited him to the stage, calling, ‘Come, Kari Topi MLA’.
Munirathna went to the stage and asked for the mic, but Shivakumar didn’t give it to him, instead asking him to sit with him. Munirathna insisted on being given the mic, and eventually took it and said, “I attended this programme after completing my RSS patha-sanchalan. I didn’t get an invitation, but I participated as a citizen since the programme is being held in my constituency”.
“I am an elected representative, but I haven’t received a single invitation in the last 10 days. Not even the MP from this constituency has been invited. It is a big insult, not for him, but for all people of his constituency”, Muniratna said. The MLA questioned the officials, expressing his discontent. As he spoke, officials and police surrounded him and took away the mic.
Meanwhile, Congress and BJP workers clashed at the stage, getting into an altercation.

Muniratna, speaking to media, said, “This is a Congress programme, and they say they won’t put up Congress flexes. No one is a public figure here. They invited all rowdies, who attacked me. If I am alive today, it’s because of the police. They have brought rowdies from Channapatna and Kanakapura. I have been a target since I lost the election”.
Muniratna launched a scathing attack at the state government, saying, “CM Siddaramaiah is not the same as he was from 2013-2018. The officials and government have not followed protocol. Is it wrong to question them? If you ask, they will attack you. They called me ‘Kari Topi’ (black cap) and asked me to come. This is the RSS foundation year and they humiliated the RSS uniform”.
“They are targeting me, preparing to file more cases against me, including rape and POCSO cases. They intend to make me resign and put someone else in my place. But I won’t resign, I am not afraid. I will pray to God that such a person doesn’t come back into politics. They plotted to kill me. How many people’s lives will they ruin?”, he asked.
