BENGALURU: Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) staff and contractor were caught off guard by the media while attempting to asphalt a road in  Mahadevapura constituency despite heavy rain.

The road had been damaged previously due to rain and had been visited by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. While half of the road had been asphalted a week ago, the other half was scheduled for asphalt work on the same day.

Locals expressed outrage at GBA and the contractor, who tried to justify their actions when confronted by the media.

The contractor claimed that they arrived at 7 am to lay asphalt, but they were waiting due to the rain. “We have been working on this road for a week. We didn’t expect the rain. We won’t do asphalt work in the rain”, the contractor claimed.
