BENGALURU: A gang of five individuals, who had plotted to eliminate history-sheeter Bethanagere Shankar over real estate deals, was arrested by the Central Crime Branch police.
The arrested accused include Sharath, Rajesh, Akash, Abhilash and Avinash. With this case, a massive land-grabbing racket has been busted on the outskirts of Bengaluru. The gang had been grabbing land worth crores of rupees by posing as money lenders and getting the land registered in their names.
They allegedly targetted innocent landowners in Nelamangala and Koratagere, offering them loans and getting the land registered in their names through sale deeds. The victims, who were unaware of the scam, would later find out that they were trapped in a plot.
The CCB police have revealed that the gang had grabbed land worth over Rs 500 crore from over 20 victims. Further investigation is ongoing.
