BENGALURU: City police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh has instructed strict action to prevent firecracker-related incidents during Deepavali.

He has directed the stakeholders to take precautions to prevent a repeat of the firecracker disasters that occurred in Attibele and KR Market area last time. No firecracker seller will be allowed to stock firecrackers in advance.

In a meeting with Fire department officials and firecracker sellers, the commissioner emphasized the need to avoid last-minute stockpiling of firecrackers. No firecracker seller will be allowed to stockpile firecrackers in advance, and those found doing so will face legal action, he said.

Sellers are permitted to stock firecrackers only five days prior to Deepavali and must sell them within those five days. Firecrackers can be sold from October 18 to 22. The beat police will conduct inspections to ensure that no unauthorised storage of firecrackers in any place, and those found violating the rules will face legal consequences.
