BENGALURU: The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) is planning to renovate KR Market with a smart parking system. Despite a company coming forward to renovate the market, they are facing significant challenges due to abandoned or junked vehicles piled up in the parking area, which is hinderering the smart parking project.
To move forward with the project, the authorities have provided information about these vehicles to the police and are conducting inspections. The vehicles are being shifted one by one to make way for the smart parking initiative.
The planned smart parking system will have digital entry and exit points, and will accommodate up to 400 two-wheelers and 200 cars. CCTV cameras will also be installed for security.
The smart parking system is expected to be designed similarly to Freedom Park’s parking model, incorporating advanced technology for efficient parking management. This initiative aims to modernize KR Market and improve the overall parking experience for visitors .
Kalyan, general manager of the company contracted to design the smart parking facility said, “There are 180-190 two-wheelers, 20 autos and 8-10 four wheelers abandoned here in the parking area. There is no information about these vehicles. People used this area for urination. It took almost 22 days to completing first round clean-up work. Water was stored in the basement from 10 years. We have informed authorities concerned about repairing the pipelines. Prince Royal Parking solution got the tender to do smart parking project”.
