BENGALURU: The state government has once again imposed a fare hike on KSRTC bus tickets, this time on the occasion of Dasara. The fare hike has sparked outrage among passengers, with a Rs 20 increase in ticket prices.

The KSRTC has increased fares for all its buses, including Vegadootha, non-stop, Rajahamsa and Airavata, among others. The fare hike will be in effect until Dasara celebrations conclude.

The new fares are as follows:

  • Vegadootha: Rs 170 to Rs 190
  • Non-stop buses: Rs 210 to Rs 240
  • Rajahamsa: Rs 270 to Rs 290
  • Airavata: Rs 430 to Rs 450
  • Airavata Club Class: Rs 440 to Rs 460

Passengers have expressed their disappointment and frustration over the sudden fare hike, especially during the festive season when they had expected some relief. Instead of increasing fares, the government could have considered reducing them to encourage people to attend the Dasara celebrations, many felt.
