Some villagers of Dharmasthala have lodged a complaint with the SIT against Sowjanya's mother.

MANGALURU: A few residents of Dharmasthala have filed a complaint with the special investigation team (SIT) stating that three individuals — Uday Jain, Mallik Jain and Dheeraj Jain — were being defamed social media.

The complaint alleges that Kusumavati, the wife of deceased Chandappa and mother of Sowjanya, had falsely accused the trio of poisoning her husband, which was later found to be baseless after investigation.

After Sowjanya’s death, Kusumavati had levelled allegations against the three individuals, but they were later cleared of all charges after a thorough investigation. However, the complainants claim that the trio is still being defamed, which is affecting their family members, including their sisters.

“We have submitted a complaint to the SIT with supporting documents, and requested a thorough investigation into the matter. The SIT has accepted the complaint and promised to take action. We are seeking action against Kusumavati for spreading false information about the death of her husband Chandappa, who allegedly died due to illness, and not poisoning”, said C K Chandra, one of the complainants.
