BENGALURU: The city police have issued notices to renowned film director S Narayan, his wife Bhagyavathi and their son Pavan to appear before them within three days in a dowry case filed by Pavan’s wife Pavitra alleging dowry harassment.
Pavitra and Pavan got married in 2021 in a love-cum-arranged marriage after meeting at a film audition. Pavan is unemployed, despite being the son of a famous film director. Pavithra alleged that Pavan had purchased a car by taking money from her, saying that he was driving a cab, but didn’t repay the EMI.
She also claimed that Pavan started a film institute, Kala Samrat, using her loan of Rs 10 lakh, and her mother even mortgaged her gold jewellery to provide the funds. The police have also issued a notice to Pavithra to provide evidence as mentioned in the complaint.
The police have issued notices to S Narayan, Bhagyavathi, and Pavan asking them to appear for investigation within three days. The police have also conducted an inspection at S Narayan’s residence in RR Nagar and recorded his initial statements and that of his family members.
Pavithra has provided evidence to support her claims, and the police have asked her to submit further documentation. During the search, the primary statements of S Narayan and family members were recorded.
