BENGALURU: The city police had kept a close watch on the participants at the international Milad-un-Nabi conference organised by the Joint Milad Committee held at the Palace Grounds on Friday.
The organisers of the event were directed to ensure that foreign Islamic preachers, who took part in the event, do not to make any religious statements which would violate visa norms and to take part only as guests. The participants were to include Islamic scholars from Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Iraq.
However, the police said the foreign Islamic preachers could not take part in the event as they had arrived on tourist visas. The entire event, which started on Friday afternoon, was videographed by both the police and the organisers. Heavy police security was deployed as Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM D K Shivakumar were also expected to attend the conference.
Police Commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh also visited the venue and checked the layout, the list of participants and other arrangements. He also appealed to the participants to ensure that the event is held peacefully.
