MANDYA, MYSURU: Two people died after suffering cardiac arrest during Ganesha visarjan processions in Mandya and Mysuru districts on Sunday night.
At Jottanapura village in KR Pet taluk, 55-year-old Manjunath, who was dancing to loud music during a procession to install a Ganesha idol in the village, developed chest pain and collapsed. By the time the other villagers could shift him to a hospital, Manjunath had passed away.
At Harave village in Husur taluk, a 34-year-old man died after falling off a tractor carrying a Ganesha idol for immersion. The deceased was identified as Auto Raju.
When the procession neared his house, Raju climbed on the tractor to offer puja to Lord Ganesha, but he fell off the vehicle. He was immediately shifted to a hospital in Hunsur, but died enroute. The procession was terminated midway and the Ganesha idol was immersed in a lake.
