Woman, stepson electrocuted to death in Doddaballapur village, stepdaughter sustains injuries

CHIKKABALLAPUR: Two people of a family were electrocuted to death while another suffered injuries after coming in contact with electricity at Karnal village in Doddaballapur taluk of Bangalore Rural district on Tuesday evening. The deceased were identified as Lalithamma and her stepson Sanjay while stepdaughter Lakshmamma suffered injuries.

Lalithamma had stepped out of the house to take out clothes hung for drying on a wire drawn close to an electricity connection. However, she was electrocuted and collapsed on the spot. Her stepson Sanjay (40), who rushed to her aid, was also electrocuted. Family members said it had also rained on Tuesday evening

Hearing the commotion, Lakshmamma rushed out of the house and attempted to save them, but suffered injuries on the hand and legs due to an electric shock. Hearing her screams, other villagers rushed out and pushed the wire away. Both Lalithamma and Sanjay were rushed to a hospital, but doctors declared them dead.

The police and Bescom officials visited the spot on Tuesday evening and conducted an inspection. Lalithamma was constructing a new house and had got a temporary power connection. The power line had come in contact with the wire on which the clothes had been hung to dry, it is said.
