BENGALURU: A man, who was trying to board a BMTC electric bus, died after coming under its wheel in 4th Block in Jayanagar on Wednesday.
The deceased, identified as Sampangi (64), was trying to board the bus when the driver closed the door. Sampangi’s hand was stuck inside while he was hanging outside. As the bus moved forward, he fell and came under a wheel and died on the spot.
The electric bus was heading towards Majestic from Jayanagar bus station. The Jayanagar police arrived at the spot and got in touch with Sampangi’s family members. The body has been taken to KIMS hospital to post-mortem examination.
Meanwhile, tollowing incidents of animals being run over and killed by vehicles, the central government has issued another directive applicable to all government transports across the country.
The directive makes it mandatory to display the slogan “Be Kind to Animals” on buses. The state transport corporations have been instructed to write this slogan on the rear windshield glass of buses in Hindi or the local language.
The circular, issued to the officials of the four state transport corporations, directs them to display the slogan on all buses and submit a report. The central government has asked them to prioritize this task.
The specifications for the slogan are as follows:
- The slogan should read ‘Be Kind to Animals’.
- It should be written on the rear windshield of buses
- The letters should be 150 mm in size
- The letters should be in yellow colour
