BENGALURU: With the yellow line of Namma Metro commencing operations last week, it has come as a huge relief mainly to those living and working in the IT corridor. However, commuters are facing difficulties are trains are presently being run at intervals of 25 minutes.
However, Metro commuters may have reason to cheer as the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation plans to reduce the wait time to 15 minutes soon and is preparing to start testing of a new train set from this week itself. The BMRCL operating the yellow line with three train sets and will add three more in the following months.
The first coach of the fourth train set arrived at the Hebbagodi depot last Tuesday and the remaining five on Wednesday night. The train set has been taken to the bay for static tests and after dynamic tests this week, it will be deployed on the yellow line after next week.
If the fourth train completes trials successfully, the BMRCL hopes to reduce the commuter wait time by running trains every 15 minutes. This will ease passenger flow on the yellow line which is seeing high footfalls. When all the six train sets are operational, commuters can look forward to trains at even shorter intervals.
