VIJAYAPURA, KALABURAGI: An FIR has been registered against Vijayapura City MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal at the Gandhi Chowk police station after he announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for Hindu youths marrying Muslim girls after entrapping them in relationships.
Former member of the Vijayapura Municipal Corporation, Moinuddin Bilagi lodged a complaint with the police alleging that Yatnal had made the remarks in Koppal. He alleged that Yatnal made provocative statements against Islamic religion.
In Kalaburagi, Khidmat-e-Millat committee president Junaid Qureshi also lodged a similar complaint at the Roza police station. He alleged that Yatnal’s remarks were aimed at dividing a particular community and spreading hatred against it.
In both cases, the police have registered FIRs under various sections of BNS and are likely to be transferred to Koppal as the alleged remarks were made there.
