GADAG: The brother of an IPS officer, who is an advocate and was in an inebriated state, drove into the Betageri police station and created a ruckus all through Thursday night. After Public TV broadcast a report, the police swung into action and registered a case against him.
On Friday night, Akshat Haddannavar, the brother of IPS officer Anita B Haddannavar, drove his SUV into the Betageri police station and kept insisting that he needed an acknowledgement for some document. When the police realised that he was completely inebriated, he was subjected to an alcometer test.
However, Akshat kept stressing that he was not drunk and that only his accomplice had consumed alcohol. He also abused some policemen in singular and created a ruckus in front of women personnel.
As the drama continued, some locals gathered at the police station and demanded that an FIR be filed against him. On Saturday, after Public TV reported about the incident, the police registered a case against Akshat and his associate under various sections of BNS and for obstructing the police from performing their duties.
Police Superintendent Rohan Jagadish told media persons on Saturday, “He was intoxicated and obstructed the police from performing their duties. His blood and stool samples have been collected for examination and based on the report, we will taken necessary action after taking permission from the court. We have registered a non-cognisable offence as of now and based on our findings, we will take necessary action”.
