PM Modi to open Metro yellow line on Sunday; BJP prepares for grand welcome

BENGALURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bengaluru on Sunday to inaugurate the long-awaited yellow line of Namma Metro and also lay the foundation stone for the Phase 3 Metro, that has received Cabinet approval within the first 100 days of his third term.

The 19.15 km line will have 16 stations, including key hubs like Electronics City and Central Silk Board. Driverless trains will run at 25-minute intervals from 5 am to 11 pm, reducing traffic congestion and improving connectivity to commercial centers. The project was built at a cost of Rs 5,057 crore and is expected to serve around 8 lakh commuters daily.

The BJP is gearing up to welcome the PM with grand preparations. The party has planned to gather thousands of workers at six locations along PM Modi’s route, including Mehkri Circle, Chalukya Circle, Sangolli Rayanna Circle, South End Circle, Ragigudda and Electronics City Circle. At each location, thousands of workers will gather to welcome the Prime Minister with flower showers.

The party has allocated specific numbers of workers to each location — Mehkri Circle will have 4,700 workers, while Chalukya Circle will have 2,500 workers. Similarly, Sangolli Rayanna Circle will have 3,750 workers, South End Circle 3,550 workers, Ragigudda Circle 3,000 workers and Electronics City Circle will have 4,000 workers.

The BJP MLAs and former MLAs from the city have been tasked with bringing in workers from all Assembly constituencies to participate in the welcome event.

The Prime Minister’s schedule :

– 10:30 am: Arrival at HAL Airport

– 10:50 am: Departure from HAL Airport to HCU Heliport via helicopter

– 11:00 am: Arrival at Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna Railway Station

– 11:15 am: Flagging off three Vande Bharat trains (Bengaluru-Belagavi, Nagpur-Pune, and Amritsar-Sri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra)

– 11:45 am: Departure to Raggigudda Metro Station via road

– 11:50 am: Flagging off the Namma Metro Yellow Line

– 1:00 am -2:00 pm: Foundation stone-laying ceremony for Namma Metro’s third phase at Electronic City.

In preparation for the visit, authorities have begun cleaning up the city, including the Oklipuram Underpass and Majestic Railway Station area. Traffic diversions and barricades have been put in place along the Prime Minister’s route for security reasons. Security checks are also being implemented along his route.

Traffic Diversions:

– Complete traffic diversion near Freedom Park.

– Vehicle movement restricted from Anand Rao Circle to Freedom Park.

Railway Station Security:

– Enhanced security checks at the railway station.

– Passengers advised to reach the station early due to expected congestion.

– Railway Protection Force, Railway Police, and police officers will conduct thorough checks.

– Additional security personnel deployed at entrance and exit gates.

Passenger Advisory:

– Passengers requested to cooperate with security personnel

– Arrive at the station early to avoid inconvenience due to security checks and traffic congestion.
