“This is the first meeting of INDIA bloc leaders convened by LoP Rahul Gandhi. We all appreciate the initiative taken by him to interact with leaders of all parties which are part of INDIA bloc. Today’s was a very meaningful meeting. The issue was the ongoing controversy over SIR of electoral rolls, how the EC has been functioning, how wrong things are being done as far as enrollment of voters is concerned…Rahul Gandhi made a powerpoint presentation. He brought several illustrations, examples referring to Karnataka and Maharashtra. He also said that what is happening today in Bihar can happen anywhere in the country,” Raja said.
“It is a serious issue, challenging the democracy of our country. After listening to him and seeing the presentation, some leaders raised certain questions regarding how to move forward,” he added.
Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi said Rahul Gandhi invited leaders of the INDIA Alliance and CMs of various states at his residence, for an interaction.
He said leaders from about 24 parties are including Sharad Pawar, CM Siddaramaiah, Maharashtra’s former CM Uddhav Thackeray, Tejashwi Yadav, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah were among those present.
He said there was positive atmosphere here, an atmosphere of dialogue..
“The manner in which we questioned the Govt in Parliament in public interest and national interest, in a united manner, we asked them important questions – we experienced the same atmosphere of dialogue, friendship and harmony at the residence of Rahul Gandhi. He addressed a press conference on the issues of fake voters, bogus voting. He spoke on the same with evidence. Leaders of various political parties had questions about it.
Dialogue was held over the same. Pieces of evidence that Rahul Gandhi presented before everyone today were presented to the leaders too,” he said.
Opposition parties have been demanding discussion on Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls in Bihar since the monsoon session of Parliament. (ANI)
