BENGALURU: Three masked individuals, armed with a pistol, robbed Ram Jewellers at Machohalli Gate in Madanayakanahalli police station limits around 9 pm on Thursday.
The masked individuals stormed into the jewellery store when the owner Kanhaiahlal and staff were putting away the jewellery before closing shop for the day.
The robbers threatened the owner and staff at gunpoint and snatched gold ornaments from the table. When Kanhaiahlal resisted, they pushed him and his staff. A nearby shop employee, who heard the commotion, was also pushed aside when he tried check what was happening and the gang escaped with the stolen gold.
The entire incident was captured on CCTV footage and the Madanayakanahalli police have launched an investigation, using the footage to track down the accused. The robbery was carried out in just 18 seconds. A case has been registered, and the police are working to apprehend the culprits.
The owner of the jewellery shop owner, Kanhaiahlal, describing the incident, said, “When we were about to close the shop and that staff were keeping away the gold ornament. At that time, three masked individuals barged in and attacked us while pointing guns at us. We were frightened and they took away all the gold which was on the table. A boy from the neighbouring shop tried to intervene, but he was stabbed twice with a knife. About 185 grams of gold were stolen. The entire incident was captured on CCTV. That moment was very scary for us. I hope the police will recover the stolen ornaments”.
Kanhaiahlal added that they immediately informed the police, who immediately arrived at the shop. He filed a complaint at the Madanayakanahalli police station and expressed hope that the stolen gold would be recovered.
