DHARWAD: Fast food giant Domino’s has been fined Rs 50,000 by a consumer court for sending a non-vegetarian pizza to a customer who had ordered a vegetarian pizza.

Order Pizza for Delivery from Pizza Hut IndiaThe incident occurred when a student, Pradyumna Inamdar from Vidyagiri, Dharwad, ordered a veg pizza from Domino’s Dharwad in January. He had specifically ordered a ‘Tandoori Paneer Pizza’, ‘Paneer Tikka’, ‘Stuffed Garlic Bread’, and ‘Veg Zingi’ parcel, paying Rs 555 online. However, instead of the veg pizza, Domino’s delivered a non-veg chicken pizza.

Despite Domino’s offering to refund the payment and provide a complimentary pizza, the customer filed a complaint with the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission last January, citing that the non-veg pizza had affected his religious beliefs and hurts his feelings. The customer complained because it should not repeat with another customer again.

After a thorough inquiry, the commission found Domino’s guilty of deficiency in service and ordered the company to pay a fine of Rs 50,000 and Rs 10,000 towards legal costs.
