Body of village accountant, who had been missing, found in Cauvery river after three days

CHAMARAJANAGAR: The body of a village accountant, who had been missing after he jumped into the Cauvery river to commit suicide, was found after three days near Yadakuriya in Kollegal taluk.

The deceased has been identified as Niranjan Kumar, a resident of Cheluvanahalli village in Kollegal taluk who was the village accountant of BG Pura in Mandya district.

According to reports, Niranjan Kumar had worked until noon on June 17 and then parked his bike near the Cauvery bridge at Kaveripuram before jumping into the river.

After a search operation by the fire department and police, Niranjan’s body was found near Yadakuriya. The police have now taken the body to the government hospital in Kollegal for an autopsy. A case has been registered at the Kollegal police station.
