CCB takes over probe in bomb threats to schools

BENGALURU: Around 40 private schools in Bengaluru’s West and East divisions received bomb threat emails, prompting swift action from the police department, on Friday. The threats were discovered when school administrators checked their emails at 7:45 am.

The email claimed that explosive devices had been planted in classrooms. Private schools senior officials have come forward that the responsibility of investigating the case be handed over to the CCB .

The college administration, who immediately took action, called the police control room and informed them. Later, the police department sprang into action, deploying bomb disposal squads and dog units to search the schools.

After conducting thorough searches, authorities confirmed that the threats were hoaxes and no suspicious items were found. The police are now investigating the source of the emails and tracking down the individual responsible.

Some of the affected schools include Bengaluru Bhavan Press School, St Germain Academy, MS Dhoni Global School, Bishop Cotton School, and Wisdom School. The investigation is ongoing, with the police working to identify the person behind the hoax emails.

FIRs have been filed in over 25 police stations across the city, including Cubbon Park, Bharathi Nagar, Chamarajpet, and the police are searching for the accused, who created panic by making fake emails. Senior officials have decided to hand over the investigation to the Central Crime Branch (CCB) police.
