BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj appears before police in history-sheeter murder case

BENGALURU: BJP MLA Byrathi Basavaraj, who has been named as accused number 5 in the Shivaprakash a.k.a. Biklu Shiva murder case, appeared for questioning at the Bharatinagar police station on Friday evening after skipping the morning session.

Earlier, Basavaraj’s lawyers had sought time, but the investigating officer insisted that he appear for questioning by evening. Following the strict direction, the MLA appeared before the police. The police had deployed additional security personnel, including KSRP troops, near the police station in anticipation of his arrival.

Basavaraj was questioned by the investigating officer for over three hours, during which more than 100 questions were reportedly asked. He was directed to appear again for questioning on Wednesday.

He maintained that there was no connection between him and the murder and said he would appear before the police again on Wednesday, as directed.

After the questioning, Basavaraj stated that he had told the police that he had no role in the murder and had answered all their questions. About the arrested accused Jagadish, Byrathi Basavaraj denied knowing  him. He will cooperate with the police for their investigation, he said.
