HASSAN: More than 50 people fell ill after consuming prasada distributed by a private organisation during a temple fair at Malekal Tirupati village in Arasikere taluk on Sunday evening.
A theppodsava was organised as part of the Venkateshwara Swami temple fair in the village on Sunday evening where a private organisation distributed bisi bele bhath and curd rice to devotees outside the temple.
By Monday morning, many people started complaining of stomach pain and vomiting. The affected were rushed to the taluk hospital in Arasikere where over 30 people are still undergoing treatment.
The taluk administration has taken samples of the prasada given to devotees and sent it to a laboratory for testing.
