Cattle thieves throw iron rods at police team in attempt to flee, two arrested after chase

Two of the four cattle thieves were nabbed after a chase.

CHIKKAMAGALUR: Four cattle thieves, who had stuffed four cows into a Mahindra Xylo SUV, threw iron rods at the police when they were intercepted near Haluvalli in Kalasa taluk past midnight on Friday. Two of them were later caught.

The Kalasa police intercepted the SUV based on specific information about cattle theft. However, the cattle thieves threw iron rods at the police team and escaped with the police hot on their heels.

Four cows were rescued from the vehicle.

After a search in the wee hours, the police managed to nab two of the cattle thieves and seized the SUV and four mobile phones from them while rescuing the four cows. A case has been registered at the Kalasa police station and further investigation is on.
