BENGALURU: A youth was brutally assaulted by a gang of 8-10 men in Soladevanahalli on the outskirts of Bengaluru, with the attackers mentioning the Renukaswamy murder case, for allegedly sending indecent messages to a girl he had been in a relationship with for two years.
The Soladevanahalli police have registered a case and arrested the accused, including Hemant, Yashwant, Shivashankar, and Shashank Gowda. The injured youth, Kushal, was in a relationship with his classmate, but they broke up a few months ago and the girl had started dating another youth. However, Kushal was allegedly sending lewd messages to her.
The girl, along with her boyfriend and his friends, called Kushal to a meeting, kidnapped him in a car, took him to a deserted area and brutally thrashed him on his bare foot and back with a wooden stick.
One among them took a video of the whole incident with one of the accused mentioning the case of Renukaswamy of Chitradurga, who was killed in a similar manner at a shed on the outskirts of Bengaluru. Actor Darshan and Pavithra Gowda are the prime accused in the case.
The attackers stripped Kushal naked, assaulted him and recorded a video of the incident. They also subjected him to extreme physical abuse, including kicking him in the groin. They threatened him to delete all messages, photos and videos with his former girlfiend and warned him not to text her. They then dropped him off home in the car.
